Lessons
Our program is designed to educate riders in horsemanship, riding skills, and stable management in a safe and friendly atmosphere. We believe in developing horsemen and horsewomen with foundations that put the horse first! Our students grow to become positive industry leaders.
At NWF, safety is an important feature of all our programs. Our lesson horses undergo regular assessment, and our farm follows Ontario’s Horseback Rider’s Safety Act as well as OE Provincial Sport protocols.
Local shows and gymkhanas give students a chance to demonstrate their horsemanship abilities. We are members of the Lakehead Light Horse Association, Hymers Agricultural Society, and the Equestrian Ontario Horse Facilities Advisory Council.
Lead Line Lessons: $35/half hour
Our youngest riders (ages 4-6) learn safety in the barn, basic horse anatomy, horse care, balance and correct riding position through fun, interactive and cooperative games.
Youth/Adult Lessons: starting at $60/ 1-1.5 hours
Prepaid subscription packages are available including practice rides, part-leases and show opportunities! Individual lessons are $70.

We offer overnight stabling for those who travel with their horses, as well as long term boarding. Proof of current vaccinations, deworming and negative Coggins will be requested.
We have deeply bedded 10x10 box stalls or wide tie stalls. The horses have individual feed rations, based on needs. We give hay free choice or four times daily, and your grain and supplements as needed. Water and mineral block are always available.
Turnout is in a mixed group in the Home Paddock with our sheep and cattle, in a horse-only paddock, in pasture, or in a solo pen. We encourage maximum turnout for the health of your horse.
Our farm has bi-annual veterinary visits. We use the services of Dr. Matt Yerxa at Crossroads Veterinary Clinic, and farrier services provided by Luke Farmer, APF.
Stallion Services starts at $500
Standing at stud is JDH Yellowstone, our palomino Canadian Morgan. His first foal, Northshield Amberlite, was born 2023, out of Ammolite Maple Sugar. In 2024, he sired 2 Part-Bred Morgans: Peso (out of Part-Morgan Twelve Karat Classic) and Summer (out of APHA SAQ Joe’s Chicki Kiwi). Contact Teri to discuss our breeding program and how versatile Morgan horses are, for ranch work, recreational riding, or competing in many riding and driving disciplines.
